In the “Archives Introduce Themselves” section, we showcase the various data providers of the Archivportal-D and provide links to their collections. We are delighted that the Neubiberg Municipal Archive is among them!
The Neubiberg Municipal Archive serves as the central repository for the municipality’s historical records. Its collections document the town’s development and are available for consultation and use by residents and researchers alike.
The municipality’s roots date back to the 11th century, when Unterbiberg first appeared in a document around 1035 as “villa piburg.” With the settlement of new residents around 1900 and the official approval of the name “Neubiberg” in 1903, a new phase of local development began east of Unterbiberg. The town received a decisive boost in 1904 with its connection to the Munich–Giesing–Aying local railway. The construction of the airfield beginning in 1933 ultimately marked a profound turning point that also influenced the settlement structure in the long term and contributed to preserving the town’s garden city character. In 1975, the entire municipality of Unterbiberg was renamed Neubiberg.
