In addition to the new design, a demo version of the organization search has been implemented. The new search option “Organizations” allows you to search specifically for organizations such as labor unions, choral societies, or religious communities that have applied for compensation due to Nazi injustices they suffered. The search form on the homepage provides an easy way to start your search. The “Name” and “Location” fields can be used either individually or together for the search. On the subsequent search results page, the results can be filtered in various ways, for example by role in the proceedings or by details regarding persecution.
This new search feature will significantly simplify the process of locating records and documents related to a specific organization: Similar to the person pages, the various documents provided by the archives will be linked together on an organization page. Organization pages thus provide an overview of all relevant documents currently available and summarize their key information. The information currently available consists of index cards from the Bundeszentralkartei. The Bundeszentralkartei is a central registry that contains basic data on the institution applying for and being prosecuted. Also it refers to the compensation authority. This allows us to provide you with information regarding which responsible archive the compensation file is likely to be found in.
