Women and technology! - that fits the Lette Verein Berlin. Today, this Berlin institution is a foundation under public law. The foundation is responsible for several vocational schools in the fields of nutrition, technology and design as well as health schools in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. The schools have been co-educational since 1982. All of this goes back to the private association founded in 1866 to promote the earning capacity of the female sex.

The Old Observatory Mannheim. Views of a tower

A virtual exhibition organised by Aktionsbündnis Alte Sternwarte Mannheim / Stadtbild Mannheim e.V. and Künstlernachlässe Mannheim

The Old Observatory Mannheim is one of the oldest buildings in the city and is unique in Baden-Württemberg. From 1775 to 1880, astronomical research was carried out here, which became a "trademark", especially under the astronomer Christian Mayer during the reign of Elector Carl Theodor (1742 - 1799). The building was a prominent network point for regional and international land surveys. From 1908 to 2012, it was a studio building for artists. With its beautiful architecture, the tower was and still is a popular motif for engravings, paintings, postcards and photographs. We present a brief overview with historical and current views. Böckstiegel writes. A look at the artist's correspondence

A virtual exhibition organised by the Kreisarchiv Gütersloh and the Peter-August-Böckstiegel-Stiftung

Using selected letters, photos and historical documents from the written estate, you can experience not only the artist, but also the family man Peter August Böckstiegel. The correspondence provides a very precise picture of the family's everyday life. At the same time, the letters are also a great commentary on the creation of the artworks: they describe the current status of the works, the hopes for a successful outcome and further plans for paintings and sculptures.
