On May 20, the Heritage in Motion Award 2016 was presented at a ceremony at the Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production in Lesbos (Greece). The project: "Archivportal-D - Building a German Archives Portal" won in the category "Websites and online content".
The jury justified its decision as follows:
“This well-structured website is easy to navigate, leads quickly to digitized objects and is suited for the needs of very different users. A solid project and an example for other archives.”
Supported by the Europeana Foundatio, the prize is awarded annually by the European Museum Academy and Europa Nostra, the European association for the protection of historical monuments, to multimedia projects that deal with Europe's tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The focus is on innovative and creative offerings that present European cultural heritage in a media context and make it accessible to all sections of the population, regardless of time and space. A total of 32 projects from all over Europe had applied, of which eight initially made it onto the shortlist.
